South LevittownNY: The Long Island Generations Bowling Tour (LIGBT) summer swing kicked off at South Levittown Lanes. A total of 82 bowlers competed for over $6,000 in prizes. The winner of the scratch event was senior bowler Chris Keane of New City, NY earning $1,000. The 210 & under champion was Preston Cheeks of Brooklyn who earned his second LIGB title and $500.

Two out of the three new jackpots were also hit at South Levittown. Winning the perfect game scratch jackpot, worth $300, was Guy Sereno of Ridgewood, NY. Guy rolled a 300 game during his third game of qualifying. Also earning $300 was Donna Bertuglia of Dix Hills who rolled a 168 scratch score her last game. That matched the number picked and Donna was the only bowler with that score. Congratulations to both jackpot winners!

The scoring pace at South Levittown was on the high side for an LIGBT event. It took a 216 average to advance to the elimination finals. Brian Soto of Kew Gardens, a former LIGBT Champion, was the qualifying (49 & under) leader with an 1176 series. The high qualifying senior was Mike Dioguardo of Patchogue with an 1177 series. Both squad leaders were seeded into the final shootout.

The scratch shootout was very competitive and the scoring was lower than in qualifying. Chris Keane, who was the last bowler to make the cut in the senior division, took home the champions trophy by shooting a 221 game. Chris needed a mark in the tenth frame to insure his victory. Finishing second with a 206 was Brian Soto who earned $500. The other top finishers were Mike Dioguardo-199 third ($300), Mike Healy of Yonkers fourth-198 ($250), and Rob Grexer of Douglaston, the only lefty in the finals, finishing 5th -152 and taking home $200.

The 210 and under tournament had some familiar faces in the final shootout. Two LIGBT former champions; Preston Cheeks and Alvin Horne joined LIGBT veteran Angelo DeSena in the shootout. Preston dominated the final game with a 274 (with handicap) and outpaced Alvin, second place finisher, by 50 pins. Alvin earned $300 for second while Angelo earned $200 for his 217game and third place finish. A total of 11 bowlers advanced to the finals.

The LIGBT’s next stop is on Sunday, July 12th at AMF Commack. Qualifying begins at noon with a free practice session kicking off at 11am. For more information please visit our website at www.ligbtour.com or call the tournament office at 1.877.900.6464.

LIGBT Summer Schedule

Posted On: June 05, 2009

Due to the overwhelming response to the on-line survey the LIGBT is proud to announce its summer schedule. Beginning on Sunday, June 14th (noon) at South Levittown, the LIGBT will host 4 summer events that will introduce 2 new jackpots.

THE LIGBT SUMMER SCHEDULE

SUNDAY                   JUNE 14                    NOON                        SOUTH LEVITTOWN

SUNDAY                   JULY 12                    NOON                        AMF COMMACK

SUNDAY                   AUGUST 9                NOON                        AMF BABYLON

SUNDAY                   SEPT. 13                   1PM                            AMF GARDEN CITY

The four summer events will have the same formats and guarantees as the winter competitions. The only change will be the average eligibility for handicap events. Beginning at South Levittown any bowler that has not averaged over 210 (instead of 205) the past two league seasons may now compete in the handicap tournaments.

The LIGBT is always looking for ways to increase the fun and excitement of its events. We think we have come up with two jackpots that can be enjoyed by everyone. Both of the jackpots are included in your entry fee which means anyone can win.

THE 300 GAME JACKPOT:Anyone bowling a 300 game in qualifying will win the 300 game jackpot. There will actually be two jackpots; one for the scratch bowlers and one for the handicap bowlers. For the handicap bowler to win their jackpot they have to roll a 300 (or higher) with their handicap.

THE MYSTERY GAME JACKPOT: After each event is completed a number between 125 and 300 will be randomly picked by an LIGBT bowler. If anyone bowled that specific scratch score in their last game of qualifying they win the jackpot. This jackpot can easily grow to over $1,000.

To get the jackpots started the LIGBT will start each one with $300. Two dollars of every entry will help grow the jackpots. To help fund the jackpots, and add more money to the prize funds, entry fees will increase $5 per event. The entire $5 increase is being returned to the bowlers.

We hope you can join us during the summer to enjoy these new programs. Remember, all LIGBT events feature 1 in 4 advancing to the finals, $1,000 guaranteed on top for the scratch event and $500 for the handicap event (with 50 entries), and all qualifying leaders are seeded into the final shootout.

LIGBT Announces Exciting Summer Tour

Posted On: June 03, 2009

Syosset, NY: The Long Island Generations Bowling Tour (LIGBT) is pleased to announce an extension of its inaugural Tour through the summer. Four summer events will take place; Sunday, June 14th (noon) South Levittown, Sunday, July 12th (noon) at AMF Commack, Sunday, August 9th (noon) at AMF Babylon, and Sunday, September 13th (1pm) at AMF Garden City. Each event (scratch and handicap) features the same format used in the winter including 1 in 4 making the finals and guaranteed prizes.

Two new jackpots will be added during the summer to allow bowlers additional ways of cashing. The first new bonus will be a 300 game jackpot where anyone rolling a 300 game earns bonus money. Obviously, the scratch event requires a 12 strike 300 game but the handicap event requires a 300 game including your handicap! 300 game bonuses for each group begin at $300 (added by LIGBT) and grows after each event. Two dollars of each entry goes to the jackpot allowing it to grow until a 300 game is bowled.

The LIGBT will also be introducing a mystery game jackpot that can grow to over $1,000. After each tournament is completed a number between 125 and 300 will be randomly picked by an LIGBT bowler. If anyone bowled that specific scratch score in their last game of qualifying they win the jackpot. The LIGBT will start the mystery game jackpot by adding $300. Two dollars of each entry goes to the jackpot allowing it to grow until the mystery game is hit.

There will be several minor changes for the summer events; entry fees will go up $5 to underwrite the new jackpots and put more money into the prize funds. 100% of the $5 increase is being returned to the bowlers. Another change will be the average to compete in the handicap events; it will go from 205 to 210. It has become obvious to the staff that most bowlers averaging between 205 and 210 have a difficult time competing in the scratch tournaments. All guarantees, 1 in 4 making the finals, and top bowlers seeded into the final shootout will remain the same throughout the summer.

We hope you can join us during this summer to enjoy quality competition. All membership bonuses, including shirts, balls, and bags will continue. Challenging, but playable, lane conditions is our goal for each event. Please visit our website for additional information; www.ligbtour.com. If you would like to speak to someone directly please call the tournament office at 877.900.6464.
