New Hyde Park, NY:  Dave Martorella, a 46 year-old right hander from Meriden, CT, won his second LIGBT title with an exciting 2 pin victory over Maniram Basdeo and Ferrill McNeill, both from the Bronx, NY. Dave earned $1,000 with a 221 while Maniram and Ferrill, both shot a 219, earning $500 each. Finishing 4th and earning $300 was Joseph Fabio, Woodside, NY with a 181.

The 4 person shootout was close all ten frames. Ferrill had a 16 pin lead in the middle of the match as he was the only bowler without an open. But when Ferrill threw a split in the seventh frame it was anyone’s title to win. Dave grabbed the lead with a double in the 9th and 10th to give him his first LIGBT title in 3 years.

The Herrill Lanes tournament drew an incredible crowd of 175 entries, advanced 29 bowlers to the finals, and paid out $6,100. The tournament pattern was the USBC Open Championship (39 feet) resulting in cut scores of 697 in the 1pm squad and 692 in the 3pm squad. High series of the tournament was shot by Michael Cangelosi, Middle Village, NY with a 765 in the 3pm squad.

LIGBT’s next tournament is our monthly house shot event at Whitestone Lanes on Sunday, May 15th with 2 squads; 1pm & 3pm. Top prizes are guaranteed to pay $1,000-1st, $500-2nd, $300-3rd, & $250-4th.
