JUSTIN KAMPF WINS HIS FIRST LIGBT TITLE

Farmingdale, NY:  Justin Kampf, a pro shop manager and student, from Levittown, NY defeated Damilyn LaCarruba, Lindenhurst, NY, 233-228 in the final shootout of LIGBT’s Match Play Championships held at Farmingdale Lanes. Justin joined his brother and father as LIGBT champions. Justin earned $1,500 for his victory while Damilyn earned $800. Rounding out the final 4 were Ed Eng, Flushing, NY with a 224 worth $600 and Yon Gyo Phark, Flushing, NY 209 worth $500.

The final shootout was extremely exciting and watched by a huge crowd.  Justin started the match with 4 out of 5 strikes while the other 3 bowlers had a least one open frame the first half of the game. But when Justin threw a split in the 6th frame he gave up the lead to both Ed and Damilyn. Ed had a chance to lock out Justin but opened in the 10th frame. Damilyn also had a chance to win but lost 8 pins in count the final 3 frames. Justin needed a mark in the final frame to win and he converted a spare to claim his first title.

The Farmingdale Lanes tournament drew a great summer crowd of 178 entries plus 39 desperado entries, advanced 34 bowlers to the finals, and paid out an $8,000 prize fund. The tournament pattern was “Athens” (40 feet) resulting in moderate cut scores: 705 at noon, 717 at 2pm, and 703 at 4pm. High series of the tournament was shot by Darryl Freeman with a 755  in the 4pm squad. High handicap scores in the noon squad won Brunswick balls; William Luna (260), Frank Williams (260), and Hector Diaz Jr. (263).   

LIGBT’s next tournament is a sport shot event at Herrill Lanes on Sunday; September 18th. Top prizes are guaranteed to pay $1,200-1st, $600-2nd, $400-3rd, & $300-4th.
