Port Jefferson, NY:  Sam Cooke, a 69 year old right-hander from Patchogue, NY won the $1,000 top prize at LIGBT’s house shot event at Port Jeff Bowl. Sam won his second LIGBT title by defeating George Brown, Shirley, NY 244-238 in the final shootout. While George earned $500 for second, Nick Carbonetto, Stony Brook, NY finished third with a 222 worth $300 and fourth went to Jackson Herbert, Lindenhurst, NY with a 191 earning him a $250 scholarship.

The final shootout was close throughout the entire match. Everything came down to the last frame with Sam shooting first. A double by Sam and he would shut everyone out, but he threw a 9 count to open the door. Both Nick and George could double in the 10th to win their first title but both did not strike. Sam won the title sitting with his wife Cynthia.

The Port Jeff house shot event drew a crowd of 62 entries, advanced 10 bowlers to the finals and paid out $2,900. The cut scores on the house shot were; 721 & 721 for the 49 & under age group and 806 & 726 for the seniors. High series of the tournament was shot by George Brown with an 843 in the 3pm squad. Jacob Klein, East Islip, NY won $250 in the scratch prize list with a 684 series.
