Patchogue, NY: In one of the lowest scoring tournaments in LIGBT’s brief history Adam Frank of Dix Hills, NY won $1,000 by shooting a mere 179. To earn his first LIGBT title Adam had to defeat Fabrizio Cerutti of Plainview, NY (176) and Guy Sereno of Ridgewood, NY (160). Fabrizio earned $600 for his gutsy performance while Guy took home $300 for his third place finish.
The LIGBT event at Bowl Long Island started out with free BowlerMap sessions to help LIGBT members improve their game. Who would have predicted that shot making would be at a premium for this event. Although some entrants may have been a little frustrated it was refreshing to see a “200 average” for the day make money. The cut scores to make the finals were under 200 for both the under and senior divisions.
In the 205 and under tournament John Isopo from N. Babylon, NY defeated Cynthia Zagorski of Lindenhurst, NY 226-159 (including handicap and bonus pins). John, a first year league bowler who averages 139 at AMF Babylon earned $400 while Cynthia, a tournament veteran, took home $200. Candice Purcell, Westport, CT and Megan Kase, Deer Park, NY rounded out the top 4 and both earned $150.
The 205 & under event continues to expand and this tournament was dominated by women—quite appropriate for Valentine’s Day Weekend. Over 20 new members joined the 205 & under group at The Bowl Long Island tournament.
Total payout for LIGBT’s fifth event of the year exceeded $10,000 when including all of the side action. Our next event is scheduled for AMF Garden City Bowl on Sunday, March 8th and quickly followed up with an event at AMF Sheridan Lanes on Sunday, March 22nd. Final Note: For the second event in a row the scratch champion was a Super Senior.
