Garden City, NY: LIGBT ran Sport Shot Series #2 at AMF Garden City and saw Julio Arnold, Woodside, NY return to the winner’s circle after a 7-year hiatus. Julio won his 3rd LIGBT title, and the $1,000 top prize, by defeating 16-year-old Jaiden Ng, Syosset, NY 259-253. Jaiden earned a $500 SMART scholarship for second place. There was a tie for 3rd and 4th place with 16-year-old student Jake Lau, Albertson, NY and 78-year-old senior Alex Padmore, Jamaica, NY both shooting 217 and each earning $275.

The final shootout was a close match as all 4 bowlers had a shot at the title going into the last few frames. Jaiden had the lead most of the game rolling 6 strikes in a row. Julio stayed close with a 4-timer going into the last frame. Jaiden needed a double in the final frame to overcome the 18-pin handicap advantage Julio had but a 7 count on his first ball gave Julio the victory. Jake and Alex had some late opens and finished in a tie for 3rd place.

The LIGBT 2-squad sport shot tournament drew 89 entries, paid out $4,570 in prize money, and had 24 bowlers go to the cashing window. The side action awarded an additional $3,215 bringing the total event payout to $6,985.
