WILLIAM WATSON WINS $1,000 AND HIS FIRST LIGBT TITLE

Plainview, NY: The LIGBT made a summer stop at AMF Plainview and a great crowd of 107 bowlers competed for the $1,000 top prize. At the end of the day the bowler with the winner’s trophy was William Watson, Hempstead, NY. This was William’s first LIGBT title and he did it in style with a 271 game in the final shootout.

William, who recently converted to a 2-handed release, was the 1pm squad leader with a 782 series which seeded him directly into the finals. The 23-year old bowled great in the shootout as he defeated second place finisher Steven Williams, Bellrose, NY by 36 pins. Steve earned $500 with his 235 game while Frank Lunghi, Farmingdale, NY finished third with a 213 worth $250. 

Tournament scoring was on the high side as Kegel’s Beaten Path was used. A total of 21 bowlers advanced to the finals which paid over $3,800. The next LIGBT Sunday event will be July 29th at AMF East Meadow. For complete results of the AMF Plainview tournament please visit www.ligbtour.com
