W. Babylon, NY: The LIGBT hosted a 3-day major tournament at AMF Babylon Labor Day weekend and Lou Medina, W. Babylon, NY won the title with a 212 handicap game. Lou earned the $3,000 top prize by defeated second place finisher Jerry Gioia, Franklin Square, NY by 13 pins. Jerry’s 199 handicap game was worth $1,500. Finishing third was Dexter Sapp, Valley Stream, NY who earned $750 with a 191 handicap game.

The final shootout was surprisingly low scoring. In fact there were only 6 total strikes thrown by the three bowlers in the final match. The winner wasn’t decided until the 9th frame as the match was close most of the way. The pressure must have been great for these competitors as there were many open frames the second half of the match.

The LIGBT major tournament drew an amazing 342 entries and paid out in excess of $13,000. There were 57 finalists and a total of 73 bowlers cashing in the prize list. Brunswick gave out their latest high end ball to 37 bowlers that competed in 4 squads.

The next LIGBT event is Sunday, September 16h at AMF Sheridan. The next event will be a special doubles tournament where the top prizes are guaranteed at $1,500-1st and $800-2nd.
