Plainview, NY:  The LIGBT visited AMF Plainview for its second summer event and the tournament drew a total of 71 entries. Emerging victorious in the scratch event was Adam Chase of Seaford, NY and in the handicap event it was Dexter Sapp of Valley Stream, NY. There were a total of 19 finalists which means better than 1 in 4 advanced and cashed.
The scratch tournament featured 5 game qualifying and it took less than a 200 average to make the finals in both the under and senior divisions. The high qualifier of the day was senior bowler Chris Keane, New City, NY who shot a 1069. The top 49 & under bowler was Adam Chase with a 1008. If you averaged 190 or higher you made the finals.
The scratch shootout was a battle of futility as each bowler had an open by the fourth frame. But the only bowler to have just one open was the eventual champion Adam Chase. Adam earned his seventh LIGBT title and $400 with a 216. Finishing second was Joe Novara, E. Patchogue, NY who shot a 184 and took home $250. Third place went to senior bowler Jose Perez, E. Elmhurst, NY with a 180 ($150) and fourth went to senior bowler Chris Keane earning $100 with a 176.
The handicap tournament attracted a total of 60 entries with 15 bowlers advancing to the finals. Dexter Sapp lead the first squad with a 750 series which seeded him directly into the final shootout. Dexter took advantage of his seed as his 236 (197 scratch) in the shootout was a winning score. Dexter earned his first LIGBT title and won $500.
