PHIL RIVERA & DALE ALBERINO DOUBLES CHAMPIONS AT AMF E. MEADOW

E. Meadow, NY: The LIGBT, sponsored by Storm, ran a special doubles tournament at AMF E. Meadow and sold out the event with 116 teams! The winning doubles team, with a 4-game total of 2,087 worth $2,500, was Phil Rivera, Franklin Square, NY and Dale Alberino, N. Massapequa, NY. Finishing in 2nd place with a 2,077 total, and earning $1,500, was partners Andrew Mienkiewicz, Dix Hills, NY and Anthony Fusco, W. Hempstead, NY.

AMF E. Meadow was packed all day with 6 bowlers to a pair. With a 1 in 6 cashing ratio a total of 20 teams cashed for at least $200. Phil Rivera not only finished in first place, he also came in third with a second partner, Dave Soren, Long Beach, NY. The 3rd place team earned $1,100 with a 2055. Rounding out the top 4 teams was Eduardo Escobedo, N. Bellmore, NY and Mike Brue, N. Bellmore, NY with a 2048 worth $900.

Scoring on the house shot was good as it took a 1,941 series to cash. The main event total payout was $11,740. The side action paid out an additional $11,705. Total payout for the day was $23,445.

The LIGBT’s next event is our annual Winter Major featuring a $2,000 top prize. This 2-day event, February 4th & 6th, takes place at AMF Wantagh. The LIGBT is sponsored by Storm, Kegel, Knockout Ball Cleaner, Billvee Electric, Vietri Associates, CLS Custom Upholsterers and Turbo 2-n-1 Grips.

KENNY WRIGHT, STANLEY WAITE, & PETER LIBRANTI MASTERS CHAMPIONS!

New Hyde Park, NY: The LIGBT, sponsored by Storm, ran its first Masters Tournament and crowned three “major” champions at Herrill Lanes. The winner of the 49 & under handicap event was Peter LiBranti, Wantagh, NY.  The winner of the 50 & over handicap event was Kenny Wright, Brooklyn, NY. The 3rd champion was scratch winner, Stanley Waite, Dover, DE. Each event featured 4 qualifying games with 1 in 4 advancing to their own match-play finals.

Peter LiBranti won the 49 & under handicap event by defeating Jason Holley, Rosedale, NY 252-214 in the final match. Peter earned $1,000 while Jason took home $650. A total of 37 bowlers competed in this division which paid out $3,300 to 9 different finalists. The cut scores to advance in the 49 & under handicap event were 1005 at noon and 1040 at 3pm.

Kenny Wright won the 50 & over handicap event by defeating David Cincotta, N. Babylon, NY 257-227 in the final match. Kenny earned $1,500 while David took home $750. A total of 81 bowlers competed in this division which paid out $6,400 to 20 different bowlers. The cut scores to advance in the senior handicap event were 1009 at noon and 990 at 3pm.

Stanley Waite won the scratch event by defeating Joe LaBargo, Bayside, NY, 249-223 in the final match. Stan earned $1,000 while Joe took home $600. A total of 34 bowlers competed in this division which paid out $2,800 to 8 different bowlers. The scratch cut scores were 923 at noon and 891 at 3pm.

LIGBT’s first Masters Tournament was a huge success as 152 entries competed for $12,500 in prize money. A total of 37 bowlers advanced to the finals (a 1 in 3 ratio.) The side action paid out an additional $8,940 bringing the total event payout to $21,440.

JALEESA TAYLOR, DARCY MONROE & BRIAN ROGERS NEW YEAR’S DAY CHAMPIONS!

Garden City, NY: The LIGBT, sponsored by Storm, ran its annual NYD Marathon at AMF Garden City featuring 3 different events. Jaleesa Taylor, Flushing NY was the lower average handicap champion earning $750. Darcy Monroe, E. Meadow, NY was the higher average handicap champion earning $700. The third NYD champion was Brian Rogers, Mineola, NY who earned $500 for winning the scratch event.

Jaleesa won the lower average handicap event with a 4-game total of 1075. Finishing just 8 pins behind, with a 1067, was Phil Rivera, Franklin Square, NY earning $400. Rounding out the top 3 was James Howard, Brooklyn, NY with a 1059 worth $300. A total of 46 bowlers competed in this division which paid out a $2,705 prize fund to 11 different cashers. It took a 1001 series to cash in the lower average handicap event.

Darcy won the upper average handicap event with a 4-game total of 1112. Finishing in second place, with a 1081 series, was Scott Gray, E. Meadow, NY earning $400. Rounding out the top 3 was Craig Bowden, Mt. Vernon, NY with a 1071 worth $300. A total of 40 bowlers competed in this division which paid out $2,350 to 10 different cashers. It took a 1010 series to cash in the upper average handicap event.

Brian won the scratch event with a 4-game total of 1063 with games of 279-268-279-237 (266 average.) Finishing in second place, with a 967, was Joshua Roca, New Hyde Park, NY with a 967 earning $300.  Rounding out the top 3 was Carl Clory, Valley Stream, NY with a 938 worth $200. The scratch event attracted 20 entries and paid out a $1,200 prize fund to 5 different cashers. It took a 929 series to cash in the scratch tournament.

The LIGBT NYD Tournament drew a great field of 106 entries, paid out $6,255 in prize money, and had 26 bowlers go to the cashing window. The side action paid out an additional $5,040 bringing the total event payout to $11,295. Max Thomas, N. Babylon, NY, in his first game shot the only 300 in the tournament.
