GARY PAULSEN & DONALD EUBANKS ULTIMATE DOUBLES CHAMPIONS AT AMF GARDEN CITY

Garden City, NY: The LIGBT ran its popular Ultimate Handicap Doubles tournament at AMF Garden City and had a pair of “seniors” win the doubles title. After 4-games of qualifying the top of the prize list was the team of Gary Paulsen, Massapequa, NY and Donald Eubanks, Elmsford, NY earning the $2,000 top prize. Donald and Gary finished with a 1,990 four-game total giving them a 4-pin victory.

Finishing in 2nd place, with a 1,986 total, was the team of Maniram Basdeo, Bronx, NY and Gary Paulsen earning $1,000. In third place was the team of Darcy Monroe, E. Meadow, NY and Gary Paulsen, NY with a 1,981 series worth $800. Rounding out the top 4 was the team of Eric Kwon, Flushing, NY and Geena Chung, Oakland Gardens, NY with a 1,975 total worth $600.

The doubles event drew an incredible field of 111 teams, with 20 teams cashing in the $9,460 prize fund. The side action paid out an additional $5,380 bringing the total day’s payout to $14,810 The LIGBT welcomed 20 new members at AMF Garden City. The cut score to cash on the house shot pattern was 1,878.

The LIGBT’s next event is our popular Firecracker Classic which is Sport Shot Series #11. This 2-day sport shot major features a $2,000 top prize and is being hosted at AMF E. Meadow. There are 5 qualifying squads starting on Friday, July 5thth (7pm & 9pm) and finishing on Sunday, July 7th (noon-2pm-4pm.) The LIGBT is sponsored by Randi B. Siegel Law Offices and Turbo Grips with all final shootouts streamed on WON Television Network.

ANDREW MIENKIEWICZ WINS HANDICAP TITLE RICH GLINNEN TAKES SCRATCH TITLE

Meadow, NY: The LIGBT ran House Shot Series #9 at AMF E. Meadow on Sunday and crowned 2 wonderful champions. Andrew Mienkiewicz, Dix Hills, NY, won his 8th title and took home the $1,000 top prize in the handicap event. Rich Glinnen, Bayside, NY, won the scratch title worth $500.

The handicap final shootout was exciting as Andrew won by striking on his first ball in the 10th frame to defeat Nick Falsetta, N. Babylon, NY 240-227. Nick earned $600 for his second-place finish. Phil Rivera, Franklin Square, NY took 3rd place with a 226 worth $400. Rounding out the top 4 was Frank Corallo, Blackwood, NJ with a 219 worth $300.   

Rich won the scratch event by shooting a 4-game total of 976. Finishing in 2nd place, just 4 pins behind, was our handicap champion Andrew Mienkiewicz with a 972 worth $250. Rounding out the top 3 in the scratch event was youth bowler Mithrandir Loutan, Rosedale, NY with a 969 earning him a $180 scholarship. The scratch event drew 23 entries and paid out a 6-person prize list totaling $1,350.  

LIGBT’s House Shot Series Event #9 drew a field of 104 entries, paid out $6,255 in prize money, and had 26 bowlers go to the cashing window. The side action paid out an additional $3,365 bringing the day’s payout to $9,620. Scores to cash were 959 in the 49 & under handicap division, 938 in the senior handicap division, and 938 in the scratch event.

FROM WILDCARD TO CHAMPION GUY SERENO WINS SPORT SHOT SERIES #10

Babylon, NY: The LIGBT visited AMF Babylon and ran its 10th sport shot series event of Season 16. Guy Sereno, Massapequa, NY was the wildcard winner (top 6 game series by a non-finalist) and was added to the finals. Guy took full advantage of his finals pass by defeating Jedd Ocampo, East Meadow, NY 256-245 in the final shootout. Guy earned $1,000 while Jedd earned $700 for second place. Finishing in third was Darryl Freeman, Forest Hills, NY shooting a 223 worth $500. Rounding out the top 4 was Phil Rivera, Franklin Square, NY with a 207 worth $300.

The final shootout was really a 2-person battle between Guy and Jedd. Guy needed a double in the 10th frame to win the title and he threw 2 perfect shots. Jedd threw the only clean game in the shootout but Guy threw 9 strikes while Jedd threw just 4. Phil and Darryl each threw just one strike and competed for the last 2 spots in the shootout.

The LIGBT 2-squad sport shot tournament drew a great crowd of 120 entries, paid out $5,910 in prize money, and had 31 bowlers go to the cashing window. The side action awarded an additional $3,825 bringing the total event payout to $9,735.  

Scores to cash on the 45 foot “Route 66” pattern were 693 at 1pm and 691 at 3pm. The wildcard winner was champion Guy Sereno with a 1,402 six-game series. High series of the day was shot by Jacob Scotch, Massapequa, NY with an 824 in the 1pm squad. Two women advanced to the finals; Stephanie Pidala, Maspeth, NY (728 at 1pm) and Nancy Villavicencio, Whitestone, NY (744 at 3pm.)
