South Levittown, NY:  It could have been a miserable day for Joseph Longiaru, E. Meadow, NY. Joe just missed the cut in the 2 squads he bowled but was added to the finals since he shot the highest 6-game block by a non-finalist (wildcard bonus.) Joe bowled incredibly in all 4 rounds of the finals to earn the $1,000 top prize and his first LIGBT trophy.

In the final shootout there were 3 bowlers competing for the title. In addition to Joseph, Joshua Adickes, Shirley, NY and Jack Kampf, Levittown, NY were hoping for a $1,000 payday. Joseph and Joshua, who both got 47 pins handicap, were within 2 pins of each other in the 8th frame. Joseph took the lead with a double in the last 2 frames to secure the victory. Joseph finished with a 250 while Joshua earned $500 with a 242 and Jack earned $250 with a 221.

The South Levittown tournament drew a great crowd of 122 entries and paid out $3,300. Kegel’s “Broadway” pattern (37 feet) was used and scoring was on the moderate to high side (711 cut at 1pm and 725 at 3pm). The high series of the day was shot by Adam Maugeri, Deer Park, NY with a 789 in the 3pm squad.
