Babylon, NY: Kevin Hyslop, a 35-year-old financial analyst from Massapequa Park, NY won his 2nd LIGBT title at AMF Babylon on Sunday. Kevin defeated 2nd place finisher Nick Falsetta, N. Babylon, NY 222-206 in the final shootout. Kevin earned $1,000 for his victory while Nick took home $500 for his runner-up position. Finishing in 3rd was John Lim, Whitestone, NY, with a 204 worth $350. Rounding out the top 4 was Rob Miller, Manorville, NY with a 198 worth $300.
The final shootout was a close competition as 3 of the 4 finalists had a shot at the title going into the final frame. Whoever bowled the best in the 10th would win. Kevin won the tournament by throwing a double while Nick spared, and John opened in the final frame. Nick unfortunately threw a perfect shot but left a ringing 10-pin on his first ball in the 10th frame.
The LIGBT 2-squad sport shot tournament drew a great crowd of 108 entries, paid out $5,190 in prize money, and had 29 bowlers go to the cashing window. The side action awarded an additional $3,800 bringing the total event payout to $8,990.
Scores to cash on the “Middle Road” pattern were 674 at noon and 695 at 2pm. The wildcard winner was Curtis Hetmeyer, Brooklyn, NY with a 1,397 six-game series. High series of the day was shot by Rob Miller with an 805 series in the noon squad. Utrice Coleman, Deer Park, NY was added to the finals as the top woman with a 695 series. Three super seniors (65+) advanced to the finals and earned at least $150.
