Mineola, NY: The LIGBT kicked off its 5th season with a unique doubles event at AMF Sheridan. A total of 20 teams competed for a $3,000 prize fund. The winning team was Jerry Gioia and George Stephens Jr. who earned a $1,500 check. Finishing second was Hermie Hannibal and Christine Hudnell earning $750.

The final match was a classic as it came down to the tenth frame with Hermie and Christine leading by 5 pins. Jerry started with a tenth frame strike while Christine coverted a spare. Jerry needed another strike to win and he threw a great shot to secure his first LIGBT title.

The Doubles event featured a very unique format where each team bowled the team on the same pair to try and earn 30 bonus pins. The match play finals featured two game baker style matches. The entire tournament was bowled on Kegel’s Route 66 pattern which is 45 feet long.

The next LIGBT event is Sunday, September 26th at AMF Garden City. Top prizes are guaranteed at $1,000-1st and $500-2nd in this two squad event (1pm starting time).
