ROBERT WUNCH WINS RECORD LIGBT EVENT

East Meadow, NY: It was a great day for Robert Wunch and the LIGBT. Robert, who resides in East Meadow, NY, won the $1,200 top prize and his first LIGBT title. The LIGBT broke its single day tournament entry record with 187 bowlers!

The AMF East Meadow tournament was a special 3-squad event with match play finals. The event was bowled on Kegel’s 41 foot Turnpike pattern which produced competitive scoring early and opened up in the final squad. High series of the day was bowled by our second place finisher Derek Brandi, Whitestone, NY who rolled a 782 handicap series in the 4pm squad.

The final shootout was very close the first six frames but Robert took control with a string of late strikes to finish with a 244, a 27 pin victory over second place. Derek, who shot 217 won $650 for second while third place finisher Darcy Monroe, Hicksville, NY, earned $500 with a 206. Rounding out the top 4 was Michael Conroy, Mahopac, NY, who won $400 with a 205.

LIGBT’s next tournament is on Sunday February 10th at AMF Plainview. This will be a regular 2-squad handicap singles event (1pm & 3pm) with top prizes guaranteed to pay $1,000 & $500.
