East Meadow, NY:  Jason Nicholas, Wantagh, NY won his first LIGBT title at AMF East Meadow by defeating three other shootout finalists all of whom were looking for their first LIGBT trophy. Jason rolled a wonderful 257 handicap game to defeat second place finisher Rich Perrotti, Levittown, NY by 20 pins earning him $600 with a 237. Rounding out the top 4 was third place finisher Sal Florindo, Forest Hills, NY who earned $300 with a 220 and fourth place went to Tony Genova, Long Beach, NY with a 185 worth $200.

Jason, a 40 year old left-hander, bowled great throughout the shootout and finally grabbed the lead in the 9th frame to win the title. Rich had the lead for most of the match but couldn’t hold on at the end. Sal kept his championship hopes alive most of the match but a couple of unfortunate opens made him settle for a third place finish. Tony, who threw the ball great in the final game, could not catch any breaks, and bowled better than his 185 score.

The AMF East Meadow tournament drew a crowd of 68 bowlers. The tournament pattern was the 2011 USBC Open Championship condition which was 41 feet. The scores were moderate all day as it took a 690 and 691 to make the finals in the noon and 2pm squads and a 719 in the 4pm squad. High handicap series went to Tony Genova with a 734 which earned him a bye directly into the final shootout.
