Levittown, NY:  Josh Valdes, a 33 year-old FDNY EMT from Staten Island, won his second consecutive house shot title at S. Levittown Lanes. Josh defeated Matt Stahura, Bayside, NY   286-253 to earn the $1,000 top prize. While Matt earned $600 for second, Jarret McMillan, Jamaica, NY came in third with a 250 worth $400. Fourth went to Robert Aiello, Oceanside, NY with a 203 earning him $300.

The shootout was a good one as Josh didn’t earn the title until late in the match. After 5 frames Josh was trailing due to an open in his second frame and no string of early strikes. But he starting cranking out the strikes in the fifth frame with 5 in a row and coasted to a 33 pin victory. Matt secured his second place finish with spare in the final frame. Josh was the only title holder in the final shootout.

The South Levittown house shot tournament drew a great summer crowd of 124 entries, advanced 21 bowlers to the finals, and paid out $4,700. The house shot resulted in high cut scores; 784 at 1pm squad and 755 at 3pm. High handicap series of the tournament was shot by Matt in the 1pm squad with an 845.   

LIGBT’s next tournament, featuring a sport shot, is at AMF E. Meadow on Sunday, August 7th with 2 squads; 1pm & 3pm. Top prizes are guaranteed to pay $1,000-1st, $500-2nd, $300-3rd, & $250-4th.
