Commack, NY: The Long Island Generations Bowling Tour (LIGBT) summer swing continued at AMF Commack. A total of 58 bowlers competed for over $4,000 in prizes. The winner of the scratch event was Frank LoCascio of Roslyn, NY earning $1,000. The 210 & under champion was Preston Cheeks of Brooklyn who earned his third LIGBT title and $350.

The scoring pace at AMF Commack was surprisingly high. It took a 218 average to advance to the elimination finals in the 49 and under division and 209 in the senior group. Brian Ziesig of Levittown, was the qualifying (49 & under) leader with a 1281 series (256 average). The high qualifying senior was Chris Jost of Hawthorne, NY with a 1081 series (216 average). Both division leaders were seeded into the final shootout.

In the scratch shootout Frank LoCascio dominated and started the final match with 7 out of 8 strikes. Frank finished with a 243 to earn his first LIGBT title. The real competition would be who finished second as the three remaining finalist all had a shot for the number two spot going into the tenth frame. Mike Vella, Huntington, NY doubled in the final frame to secure second ($500) with a 216. Finishing third was senior leader Chris Jost ($250) and rounding out the top 4 was qualifying leader Brian Ziesig with a 209 earning $150.

The 210 and under final shootout was one of the most exciting in LIGBT history. Winning his third title by only one pin was Preston Cheeks who outdueled Hee Jin Jun of Flushing, NY 231 to 230. Although Hee was disappointed with her second place finish the $250 prize made it easy for her to be proud of the runner-up finish. Finishing third and earning $150 in the handicap shootout was Kevin Drummond of Matawan, NJ with a 185 game.

The Mystery Game Jackpot was hit at AMF Commack by Doug Burwell who rolled a 234 scratch game which matched the number picked by LIGBT bowler Candice Purcell. Doug earned $164 for matching the mystery game. Your jackpot amounts at AMF Babylon will be as follows: Scratch 300 Game: $120, 210 & Under 300 Game: $460, Mystery Game: $116.
