Syosset, NY: Ian Lynch, Glen Cove, NY earned $1,000 and the Champions Trophy at AMF Syosset on St. Patrick’s Day. In one of the lowest scoring final shootouts, which included 14 opens between the three bowlers, Ian emerged victorious by rolling 2 strikes (and they were ugly ones) in the final frame. Ian’s final score was 205 (160 scratch) which was 4 pins higher than second place finisher Rob Spauster, Levittown, NY who earned $500 with a 201 (156 scratch). Finishing third was Rich Perrotti, Levittown, NY who rolled a 190 handicap game to earn $250. All three bowlers were looking for their first LIGBT trophy.

The final shootout was a test of futility. Ian started with a double and then had 4 straight opens. Rob stayed clean the first four frames but then opened 3 out of the next 4. Rich started his game with 4 open frames in the first 5. The match ended just as it should with Ian needing a double to win and he threw two “nose dive” strikes. Everyone in attendance had a great laugh.

The AMF Syosset tournament drew a great crowd of 114 bowlers for the 2-squad event. A total of 24 bowlers cashed in the $4,050 prize fund. The scores were moderate all day as the cut in the 1pm squad was 680 and 712 in the 3pm squad. High handicap series went to Lou Medina, W. Babylon, NY with a 766.

LIGBT’s next tournament is a special 3-day major event at AMF Babylon; March 22-24. Top prizes are guaranteed to pay $3,000 & $1,500. One in 4 bowlers will cash each squad for $70 and 1 in 8 each squad advances to the finals earning a minimum of $100. For complete results of the AMF Syosset tournament please visit www.ligbtour.com.
