W. Babylon, NY:  The LIGBT’s 3rd annual New Year’s Day Marathon attracted a huge crowd of 135 entries. At the end of the day Mike Simeone, a NYC police officer from Wantagh, NY, took home the $1,000 top prize with a 1367 handicap series. Finishing in second, 26 pins behind Mike, was Jerry Gioia, Franklin Square, NY with a 1341 worth $600. Scott Teitler, Patchogue, NY earned $400 with his third place finish shooting a 1325 series.

Mike Simeone led most of the day as he took the top spot after game 2 and never relinquished the lead. Carl Worley, Staten Island, NY, who finished in 5th place with a 1322, won $350 plus an additional $300 in pot winnings, by finishing second in three out of five games. Jerry Gioia bowled consistent all day but could never overtake Mike for the lead.

The New Year’s Day Marathon drew a fantastic crowd of 135 entries, paid 34 spots (1 in 4) and distributed a prize fund of $6,960. A modified house shot was used and scoring was moderately high as it took a 1208 (for 5 games) to cash. The side action was huge as over $9,000 was paid out. The New Year’s Day Marathon set an LIGBT one day payout record of more than $16,000!  

LIGBT’s next tournament is at AMF Wantagh on Sunday, January 18th. Top prizes are guaranteed to pay $1,000 & $500. One in 6 each squad advances to the finals and will cash for a minimum of $60.
