RICHIE RODRIQUEZ CAPTURE FIRST LIGBT TITLE

E. Meadow, NY:  Richie Rodriquez, a school bus driver from the Bronx, won his first LIGBT title worth $1,000. Richie shot a wonderful 270 handicap game to defeat second place finisher Clive Tobias (244), Wyandanch, NY, by 26 pins. Clive earned $550 for his runner-up position while Justin Kampf, Levittown, NY took home $350 as the third place finisher shooting 222. All three shootout finalist were looking for their first LIGBT title.

The final shootout was a competitive match through the first 5 frames but when Richie doubled in the 5th/6th frames he extended his small lead to 25 pins and never looked back. Richie was the only shootout finalist to throw a clean game making his victory even more impressive.  

The AMF East Meadow tournament drew an incredible crowd of 150 entries, advanced 26 bowlers to the finals, and paid out $5,200. Kegel’s 42 foot Autobahn pattern was used resulting in moderate scoring; the cut was 715 in the 1pm squad and 714 in the 3pm squad. High series of the tournament was shot by So Young Chin, Whitestone, NY with an 848 in the 3pm squad.

LIGBT’s next tournament is a 5-game handicap Marathon on Super Bowl Sunday (February 1st-Noon start) at AMF Babylon. Top prizes are guaranteed to pay $1,000 & $500.
