CHRISTIAN RUIZ WINS HIS FIRST LIGBT TITLE

Whitestone, NY:  Christian Ruiz, a staff member at RAB Country Lanes in Staten Island NY, won his first LIGBT handicap title with a victory at Whitestone Lanes. Christian defeated Andre Matos, Bronx, NY, 275-244 to earn the $1,000 top prize. While Andre earned $500 for second, Jonathan Wilson, New York City, came in third with a 242 worth $350. Finishing fourth went to Nasir Ashraf, Jackson Heights, NY with a 205 earning him $300.

All 4 shootout finalists were looking for their first LIGBT title. Christian took the early lead with a triple in frames 3 through 5 and never looked back. When Christian opened in the ninth frame both Andre and Jonathan had a chance to make it close both neither could put a string of strikes together. Despite the event being bowled on a house shot no one threw more than 3 strikes in a row and all 4 shootout finalists had at least one open frame.

The Whitestone Lanes house shot tournament drew a great crowd of 135 entries, advanced 24 bowlers to the finals, and paid out $5,255. The house shot resulted in moderate cut scores for an easy pattern; 763 at 1pm squad and 762 at 3pm. High handicap series of the tournament was shot by Frank Spano in the 3pm squad with an 883.   

LIGBT’s next tournament is sport shot handicap event at AMF East Meadow on Sunday, May 22nd. Top prizes are guaranteed to pay $1,000-1st, $500-2nd, $300-3rd, & $250-4th.
